Летная одежда была придумана и продумана для военных нужд. Требования к ее качеству строго регламентировались в связи с эксплуатацией, преимущественно в экстремальных условиях. В экипировке пилотов начала и середины прошлого века были меховые бомберы и такие предметы первой необходимости, как утепленные варежки с несколькими модификациями. Ведь руки военного летчика были важнейшей частью тела, страдавшего от обморожения в неутепленных кабинах самолетов того времени.
